LOCATION

How to Find Us

Balclutha is approximately 80kms or 1 hour drive south from the Dunedin i-Site. The drive takes you along State Highway 1 passing through towns such as Henley, Waihola, and Milton. Make sure to stop at the old Sod Cottage halfway between Milton and Balclutha and see what life was like in the 1860's for miners on their way to the Tuapeka Goldfields. As you come down the hill into the town centre you will cross the mighty Clutha Road Bridge. Renfrew St is the second street on the left after the bridge and we are not far from the corner with free parking both on the street and on site. We also have a satellite display set up at the Balclutha i-Site in the War Memorial Hall which is only a 75m walk from the museum. Whilst entry to the museum is free, we would appreciate a small donation to help with our running costs.
Built in 1935, The Balclutha road bridge is 244m long and takes you across New Zealand's second longest river.
